Good morning awesome Glades community!

It has been very exciting to have the opportunity to be back on campus as we look to bring our school year into focus. I want to recognize and thank our Glades community for all of your support in helping to launch our school year. As you can imagine, we are undergoing a comprehensive assessment of all of our processes and procedures in light of the dynamics of operating our school in the midst of a pandemic. In an effort to ensure effective communication, please note the following updates/reminders:

**During arrival in the morning, it is important to note that students should not be dropped off prior to 9:00 A.M. as there is no supervision provided prior to this time. If you are in need of having your child supervised prior to 9:00 AM, you may enroll your child in our before care program. Information regarding registration for this program can be found on our website: glades.browardschools.com**

**In an effort to promote the safety of our students, please be advised of the following message from Miramar P.D.  Effective this week, we are implementing a right turn only as you exit for morning drop off and after school pick up. It should also be noted that there is no parking on the North side of Bass Creek road. If you are parking to either drop your child off, pick up a child or walking your child up to the entrance, you need to park on the South side of Bass Creek in the field. When you are crossing through traffic please use the crosswalk in the center of the school. Miramar Police Department will be issuing citations for any type of infractions (i.e. speeding, jay walking, or turning left). Your child’s safety is paramount to us here at Glades Middle.**

I thank you for your assistance and cooperation as we look to prioritize the safety and well-being of our precious students! We are going to have an AMAZING school year. Let Today be the Start of Something New.

Sincerely,

Mr. Ricardo Santana

Principal Glades Middle School

8-18-21 First day of School Follow-up

Good afternoon Glades Middle School Community,

I want to take this opportunity to extend my sincerest gratitude for your continued support as we successfully opened our school year. As we reacclimate to having more students physically present on campus, please note the following important procedures:

  • During arrival in the morning, it is important to note that students should not be dropped off prior to 9:00 A.M. as there is no supervision provided prior to this time. In an effort to ensure that all of our students are safe, you may enroll your child in our before and/or aftercare program. Information regarding registration for these programs can be found on our website: glades.browardschools.com
  • In an effort to facilitate physical distancing during arrival, please note the following adjustment to morning drop off procedures. 6th grade students will enter through the east pedestrian gate in the morning and report to their designated waiting area, while 7th and 8th grade students will enter through the west pedestrian gate and report directly to their designated waiting areas. Staff will be on hand and present at both gates to assist students with this process. Please note that gates will be staffed at all times.
  • As students become adjusted to their classroom locations, please note that we will continue to have staff on hand to provide assistance in helping students navigate the building. We will continue this process throughout the first week of school.
  • For car riders during dismissal, please ensure that you coordinate a “pick up” spot with your child in the afternoon so that the car loop is cleared more efficiently.
  • As a reminder, per school board policy “each student, employee, visitor, vendor or other person must properly wear a face covering while at or inside a school campus, district facility, a vehicle owned, leased or operated by The School Board (unless traveling alone) or a school/district sponsored activity.”

In closing, I thank you again for your support of our school and for allowing us the privilege and honor of serving your child’s educational needs. As the principal of our school, please know that we aim to provide an excellent middle school experience for you and your child. The Future is Always Bright at Glades! Let Today be the Start of Something New!

Sincerely,

Mr. Ricardo Santana
